#8

It's been awhile, things have changed.
I try to live my life without regret,
But I can't help but think about what could have happened with us.
In-between every glimpse of the eye, teeth-bearing smile, kiss of the cheek.
During every long embrace, feel of your body lying next to mine.
After every squeeze of the hand, nuzzle of the neck, then saying goodbye.
I look back on these times and honestly, yes, I'm filled with regret.
I don't want to be, but I am.
But it's been awhile, things have changed.
Now she's the lucky girl who will get all these things.

Lips Creasing. Teeth Glimmering. Noses Scrunching.
We share the thought that
It only matters that we have each other.

That sparkle in your eye
could lead me down the dark path.
Once so frightening and strange,
I walk with confidence from your light.

#5

Those eyes of yours, an everlasting ocean of blue.
The permanent creases welcoming a hello.
With no guard, I feel comfortable.
Free from judgement. Free from expectation.
Brand new with a familiar essence.
Words escape lips without hesitation.
Awkward pauses combined with careless eye contact.
The passion of newness escapes for all to see,
blossoming into a long-lasting bond.

Darkness falls upon us, twice as fast as Light.
Harder to Overcome. Harder to Avoid.
There will always be Darkness.
There will always be Light.
It is the strength and determination
within oneself to recognize the difference.

#3

I hate that I can't look into those big, blue eyes of yours.
I hate all the things you'll miss out on.
I hate these crying spells that randomly come upon me.
I hate that you're not here.
Only time can keep us apart; I'll be seeing you soon.

I miss your laugh.
I miss your unique accent.
I miss spending time with you on the back patio.
I miss the feel of your scruff when you kissed me goodbye.
Please keep me in your thoughts, buried deep in your heart.

I love the lessons you have left with me.
I love your stories that still bring people to tears, the laughing kind.
I love the picture I have of you in my mind.
I love that I had the pleasure of having you as my grandfather.
Always remember I'm looking down on you, and that I love you too.

What Was Once Has Now Passed
I can see those looks you're sending me from across the crowded room.
Your charm is magnetic, but you already knew that.
What are you trying to do?
Even though I never said the words,
I'm sure you knew how I felt.
Neither of us did anything then and that's okay;
maybe it was never supposed to develop into anything.
I've accepted this idea, but when we're here... in this crowded room,
I can't help but think of the what ifs and why nots.
I wonder if you think the same; I will probably never know.
But with these familiar hellos and goodbyes,
we will continue in the growth of this
confusing/loving/simply complicated friendship because
what was once has now passed.

Summer Random

#1

The sky grows darker, air becomes crisper
Sharp jabs to the lungs
It's times like these you know you're alive.

The sand gets softer, the sun burns brighter
Warm tingles form on top of skin
It's times like these you want to be alive.
I think I am ready to share poems I have written. I am really nervous about letting other people see them since they expose some personal thoughts and feelings. I want to include a song or photograph with some of them that I think adds to the expression.

PROCLAIMER: I never said I was good, so please be gentle. ALSO they are not in order from when they were written and some are really old. I do not have titles for a majority of the poems, so I would love your input.

The Hottest Accessories Around: Lissy Dawn

Lissy Dawn specializes in one-of-a-kind accessories that are inspired by nature. Feather accessories and hair extensions are the most popular, especially since the feather trend has exploded into everyone's face. These accessories are as cool as the designer herself, oh Melissa how I love thee! She's one eccentric, outgoing lady that is cute as a button. She's always up for custom orders and collaborations. I discovered Lissy Dawn while interning for Graffiti Beach over the summer and was immediately impressed and drawn in by Melissa's charm. Lissy Dawn pop-up shops are where the nonstop business is at... everyone wants their hands on those special feather earrings! Lissy Dawn is for those fashionistas that are confident, charismatic, and fearless. I want to own everything!!!

Here are some photos of Lissy Dawn merchandise she has made:

Happy Fourth of July!

Cameron Mitchell

Now here's a young man that displays a great amount of passion and drive for his art. He's new to the industry and trying to make it out there. This super-talented stud is currently on The Glee Project which can be found on Oxygen. If you don't know... The Glee Project is a show where young inspiring artists compete for a running role in ‘Glee’ Season 3. He has an amazing voice! I'm sure he will win the whole thing. I wouldn't mind seeing him in one of my favorite shows... nope not at all. Plus he's a fellow nerd and has no shame in repping that, especially with his fashion sense, which I would put in the A+ category.
“Living out loud to me is truly being yourself, just being who you are. What sets you apart when odds are against you is personality.” -Cameron Mitchell
I wish Cameron the best of luck. And can I just say... HOW CUTE IS HE?! But seriously go check out the videos I've posted below and share them with all your friends.

Video Dedicated to My Opa

I made this video for my Opa's funeral. I just used Windows Live Movie Maker to create it; the software was really simple to handle.

You can find it on YouTube:

Tea in the Woods

Today I had a guest speaker in my Fashion Promotion and Sales class and got to see the power of inspiration at its best. Zac Schafer is the creator/owner of the clothing line, Tea in the Woods, and came to share his story and show us some of his brand's merchandise. (Which is totally awesome!) Zac was inspired in 2005 while studying abroad in Spain; this inspiration lead to the creation of Tea in the Woods. Tea in the Woods is mainly a men's wear line but has plans to grow and produce women's wear. Their merchandise consists of T-shirts, sweatshirts, and board shorts; retailing between $20-$30 and sweatshirts just under $50. Based in Costa Mesa, the line incorporates artistic graphic designs and foreign language text design. They have really cool events that revolve around the art and music scene, such as ceramic shows and "underground" concerts. Overall I thought Tea in the Woods was a great clothing company to write about because it is a perfect example of someone getting inspired and going with it. Zac's whole career path has been altered and something has been created out of a great experience, in his case studying abroad in beautiful Spain. It is still a small company and if anyone out there has any resources for them I am sure they would love for you to reach out. Their contact information can be found on the website: http://teainthewoods.com
